I am not referring to crack cocaine. Nor am I alluding the prodigious posterior of Kim Kardashian. This is about toffee. Killer toffee. So addictive, you’ll understand why it’s called crack. Biggies Crack. Toffee is what you get when you caramelize sugar with butter. What makes Biggies better is that it’s super thin. It’s a delicate, crispy, crunchy candy. Five flavors are available to choose from, each quite wonderful in its own way. Pistachio with Sea Salt features my favorite nut, and for those who prefer another, there’s Toasted Almond with Maldon Sea Salt. The Cranberry Toasted Almond with Maldon Sea Salt adds a delightfully tart and chewy component from the fruit. Coffee fans will love the Espresso with Pink Sea Salt, while the more adventurous will get off on the sweet heat of Chipotle with Pink Sea Salt. They’re all excellent. (And I hear they’ve just added a Salty Spiced Pecan option for holidays.)
Sure you can chomp on the toffee straight up, right out of the bag. But here’s another way to play it: Crunch it up and drop it over ice cream. In fact, one of my very favorite desserts is called affogato. It is simply a cup of hot espresso poured over a scoop of vanilla gelato. As fabulous as it is on its own, I don’t suppose it would hurt to top it off with a handful of Biggies Espresso flavored toffee. That’s just three ingredients on the way to heaven.
