Gelato differs from ice cream. It has a lower butterfat content. And it has a lot less air whipped into it than ice cream does. So? You get a denser texture, a rich, creamy mouth feel and more intense flavor. All good. Furthermore, Gelato will generally have fewer calories, although neither qualifies as a health food. I’m a fan of the Ciao Bella brand, available in many supermarkets these days.
