But it was the best Indian meal I’ve ever had. Vegetarian too. No beef, no pork, no chicken, no fish. No silverware either.

There was some puffy pancake like bread with a bunch of tasty sauces to dip into. Some of it made me sweat.

Then there was some really puffy bread with more exciting sauces to dip into. I do believe lentils were involved.

Then came this rice dish that looked like dessert, but wasn’t. It was rice with cashews and some more exciting sauces on the side.

You know what? I’d have it all again.

    hello Rob,

in case you were wondering, you just had a meal that is very characteristically South Indian. the white flying saucer-like thing is called “idli” and is basically made of ground rice, along with a little bit of lentils. the “dipping sauces” are various chutneys – from your picture, i would guess that the green one is based on cilantro, the cream-colored one is probably coconut-based, and i can’t tell what the other one is. the thing in the little bowl is likely a lentil-based soup-like item. the super-puffy bread is called “bhatura”.
    hope that helps!

Thank you. I was feeling a little bit lazy, so I didn’t take the time to document the menu beyond the pics I took. However, I reiterate my desire to return there because the meal – vegetarian, no less – was just fantastic.
